Our Story

Both born Minnesotan growing up with Scandanavian tradition, we both know what "Uff-da" means!  If you don't, you can ask us sometime when we're visiting, but more important is knowing Christ.  Steve came to know Christ at a youth retreat when he was 15.  Glenda came to know Christ through her 2nd grade Sunday School class.

Steve's education and expereince is in computer programming, Glenda's in administrative support.  Our involvement that has trained and equipped us to work closely with the local church and with connecting the work of missions to the local body of believers is as follows.  Steve: Two-year Bible school education, deaf ministry, US short-term missions, cross-cultural expereince in Europe, Bermuda, and Canada, church leadership roles, worship team, children's ministries, and youth work.  Glenda:  Two-year Bible school education, children's ministries, church leadership roles, women's ministry, US short-term missions and inter-cultural experience in the Dominican Republic and Canada.

Our children, Jason, Neliana, and Lenaya, have generally had interest in mission and cultural studies throughout the homeschool curriculum we've used.  However, they expressed a much deeper interest and heart for missions after attending local missions conferences in 2005.  We were also drawn to check this out further and were directed to the JAARS website to fill out an IT assessment as we considered missions in IT (Information Technology).  This was at Christmas of 2005.  In the new year, 2006, word came back from Wycliffe that with education, experience, and Bible school already under our belt, we'd be equipped to take a missions assignment here or abroad to support the work of Bible translation with computer technology if we were willing to come. ? !  Wow!  We always thought, "missions?  Ya sure, in the future sometime."  After prayer, counsel with respected spiritual leaders in our lives, and seeing the green light from our kids, we believed God to be calling us to full-time missions.  We began our application process with Wycliffe in January 2006, were accepted as members in July 2006 and went to training camp as a family in September 2006.  Answering God's call, we are delighted that Steve's skills as a computer programmer can be invested in furthering the truth of God's Word to the nations.  We as a family can also volunteer additional skills and talents as opportunties arise.

Jason invited Christ into his life when he was very small.  In 2007, he experienced his first short-term mission trips.  US:  Inner-City Minneapolis.  Intercultural:  Poland.   Learn more on the Kvale Kidz page.

Neliana and Lenaya, also coming to know Christ when very small, continue to grow in the Lord and have interest in what God is doing in the world.  They share in ministry with testimony and music.

We accepted an assignment to serve with the computer missionary team at the Wycliffe Bible Translators headquarters in Orlando, Florida.  This team serves the information technology needs of Wycliffe missionaries around the world.  We will be able to join this team when our regular support is at 100%.  If you are interested in helping us get there, please become a regular prayer partner.  Intercession is the vital foundation for any mission.  Or become a regular financial partner team member which enables us to remain in full-time service.  You may give on-line or through the mail.
