Steve's Assignment
It takes 7 to 10 support people working in support roles to keep a missionary on the field. God has lead me through 19 years of experience in computer programming. When Wycliffe looked at my background, work experience and the needs they have in this mission they said, "we could use you here or abroad if you're willing to come now". I have accepted the call to join the computer missionary team at the Wycliffe headquarters in the litte village of Orlando, Florida! The computer missionary team there works on the computer systems that manage the information needs of over 6,000 Wycliffe missionaries all around the world. With high demand for computer skills of all sorts, current missionaries also accept calls abroad from the Orlando team. This empties more chairs in this state side assignment and increases the need for more to join them. Please consider giving your IT career to missions. I am so excited to have found how the Lord could use my skills for His eternal purposes. Too often, computer programming is like building sand castles, writing, editing, finishing, and soon it is outdated anyway. To do computer programming for the purpose of aiding missionaries and the work of Bible translation and literacy work sounds like the ultimate! Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers and the flower fade but the word of our God stands forever." It has also been so rewarding to share with churches and individuals to spread awareness of what God is doing around the world through translation, bringing people out of darkness into His marvelous light, and see people get excited about how God might call them in specific ways in ministry or mission. If you find yourself with similar passions for this mission work but can't leave home, please prayerfully considering joining our ministry team as a prayer partner or financial partner. Or if you'd consider missions yourself, please prayerfully consider contacting Wycliffe.
